The Royal Exchange stands at the heart of London’s financial district. Originally built to house the city’s first stock market, its distinctive classical facade remains a symbol of Britain’s proud trading history. Michael Alford reveals its softer side, showing The Royal Exchange in the blue-tinged light of a winter’s evening. Warm yellow tones stream out of the illuminated portico, softening severe classical lines and giving the building a festive air. Modern skyscrapers loom behind, their shapes picked out with ghostly lights, while figures of office workers hurry past as they head for home.
