St Pauls Cathedral is London’s most famous landmark and a favorite subject of artists since its construction in 1675. Painter Michael Alford is no exception. “If you’re going to paint the City of London,” he has said, “you must embrace St Pauls Cathedral and make it part of your work.” This view is one of a series of five contemporary cityscapes by Alford that celebrate Christopher Wren’s iconic building. Here, its imposing dome looks down on a busy street scene where Londoners come and go during a normal working day.
